It was a rainy and blustery night for baseball as the Oregon Ducks started a three game series welcoming Michigan State to PK Park in the Friday night opener. Cole Irin would get his first Friday start of the season coming off his first loss of the year last weekend on a Sunday start at Arizona.

With the rain coming down he would promptly strikeout Left Fielder Cam Gibson to start the game, one of the Spartan’s best players. He would then walk First Baseman Ryan Krill before throwing some wild pitches allowing Krill to reach third base. Michigan State would foul off seven pitches in the innings and Irvin would hit the next batter in Shortstop Ryan Richardson loading the bases with two outs in the first inning. A pop out would end the threat for the Spartans in the first.

The Ducks struck out fifteen times and left ten runners on base. Oregon will look to bounce back in Game 2 of the series on Saturday at 2pm Pacific Time. It was discussed that if it looks like the weather will be bad on Sunday that there would be a double header on Saturday with the third and final game of the series set about thirty minutes after the second game. It is expected to be decided this morning.

Conner Harber will get the ball for the Ducks in Game 2.
