The Oregon Ducks began a three game road trip against the tenth ranked UCLA Bruins on Friday with disastrous results. Junior Starting Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins was not her dominant self and gave up five runs on four hits in two innings. The Bruins were ready for Oregon’s Offense and struck out fifteen Ducks in the game to pull off an 8-1 win. The bright spot in the loss is that it would not linger as Oregon went on to win the series and games on Saturday and Sunday with big wins.

Freshman Lauren Lindvall was the spark on Saturday hitting a home run in a 6-4 win. The Ducks left eleven on base early in the game but managed to breakthrough in the seventh with a big inning. Lindvall came to the plate with runners on first and second. Her home run sailed over the left field fence to give Oregon a 5-4 lead. On Sunday the runs came in a big way for Oregon in a run ruled win.

Koral Costa and Janelle Lindvall both had eight RBIs combined in two grand slams on Sunday leading to a 10-0 win and Starting Pitcher Cheridan Hawkins returned to her former dominance pitching a shutout. She allowed two hits in five innings of work, walked five and struck out six. Her ERA entering the weekend was at .43, following the loss on Friday and wins on Saturday and Sunday it is still solid at 1.06.

Oregon heads to Hillsboro to take on Portland State on Wednesday in a double header before returning to Pac-12 play at Howe Field next weekend hosting Arizona State.
