Oregon Ducks Basketball Head Coach appreciates effort when he sees it on the court, and off. On Friday night against the Baylor Bears, a game that the home team led most of the way, Altman saw his team begin to run out of gas toward the end. It got to within three points with just over 10 seconds left in the game. Well before that the throng of over 2500 students screamed, shouted and made noise enough to effect the game. For the fans, Altman was grateful. ‘Deep In The Woods’ is more than just a saying, it is a statement. It is expected to be a big home field advantage for the Oregon Ducks whenever they play at Matthew Knight Arena and Friday it rang true.

The students stepped up big time. It was their biggest attendance mark ever for a non-conference game and the most for a game at Matthew Knight Arena since Arizona visited Eugene last season. Half the battle of getting to the NCAA Tournament is winning your home games, after all that is half your season. Once again Altman has found a way to build chemistry. He has Veterans in Elgin Cook and Dwayne Benjamin who both played big roles in the win against Baylor. Chris Boucher has turned into a big asset on Defense through two regular season games. Keep in mind that this team is not even at full strength with Transfer Dylan Ennis and shot block master Jordan Bell still out with foot injuries, likely thorough the non-conference part of the season.
