The College Basketball season is long, but being ranked anywhere in the poll can sometimes help as we move toward the ultimate goal. The NCAA Tournament. The Oregon Ducks were quietly ranked 25th last weekend entering games against Baylor and Valparaiso and Oregon won both games and have moved up this week to 21st in the Associated Press poll. Dana Altman has found ways to get his teams winning, in some cases early. This season Oregon is 4-0 to begin the season. Last week it seemed a record number of Pac-12 teams were in the AP Poll, the same can be said about this week.

The Cal Bears are 3-0 and ranked 14th and Arizona is 4-0 and comes in at 11th. The top three have changed with North Carolina’s loss this past weekend. Kentucky, Maryland and Michigan State round out the top three. The Tar Heels have fallen to 9th. Oregon is in a good place, with a solid start to the season. Right now they are a team on the move, but not a ‘known’ basketball team -at least not yet in 2015. It will take some time for Altman and the Ducks to get there. Winning against solid opposition will help them to get that recognition. Right now, the Pac-1 favorite is Arizona. It will take some time for the team from Eugene to shift the narrative, and they clearly have the talent and the players to do it with Altman leading the charge.
