Oregon is looking to get back on the winning track on Wednesday against Oregon State following a series loss to UCLA.

The Oregon Ducks Baseball team was on a winning streak last weekend sweeping top ranked Cal at PK Park. They have since lost four straight, one against Oregon State, and a three game series on the road against UCLA.

The Bruins series was rough, all three Starting Pitchers took a loss. Matt Krook, Cole Irvin and the usually reliable David Peterson all had bad outings with Krook and Peterson taking the brunt from the UCLA bats.

UCLA played a better game getting ahead in the series by putting runs on the board in the early inning forcing the Oregon Ducks to play catchup. It worked to their advantage.

At the start of the season, the Oregon Ducks Team ERA was ranked high, as the team was ranked in the Top 10. Now, Oregon’s Team ERA is 98th in the nation and hovering just above 4.00. The Ducks can, of course, improve by winning and closing out the competition, but the road the rest of the way will see them not only facing Pac-12 Competition, but a need to once again improve in all facets of the game to be successful. It begins with a non-conference game against Oregon State on Wednesday night.

The Oregon State Beavers have re-entered the Top 10 Ranks this week, but find themselves at a slight pitching disadvantage having used six pitchers last week in a win over the Oregon Ducks at PK Park. The single game is considered a non-conference game since it is not part of a series in the Pac-12 Conference, but that doesn’t mean it is not important. Oregon needs to again step up and fight for every win they can.

Oregon has an opportunity to again get back into the mix in the Conference playing five games in six days, including a guaranteed crowd following the Annual Spring Game on Saturday with Football starting at 11, Baseball beginning against Washington State at 2, and Softball vs Arizona at 5.

While the Ducks starters have struggled, their Closer Stephen Nagosek is leading the bullpen with a 1-1 record and a 1.16 Earned Run Average this season. Travis Moniot is one to watch for Oregon going 3 for 4 with a homerun in the 11-10 loss to the Beavers last week.
