Former Oregon Duck Ryon Healy is making a lot of noise in the Oakland A’s Farm System and could see a call up to the Majors this season.

After the success of Tyler Anderson becoming the first Oregon Pitcher to make the big leagues since the program was reinstated in 2009, another former Oregon Fielder is ready to make a splash on the Major League Stage. Ryon Healy is making a challenge to the Oakland A’s and is performing well in Texas.

Ryon Healy has moved from Double A Texas to Triple A Nashville. He has hit three home runs in his last twenty-two at bats. According to AthleticsNation, he had a seven game hitting streak last month where he went 14 for 28. That’s .500 for those of you keeping track. At that point he also had twenty extra base hits, which led the Minor Leagues at the time.

If there is any player in Oakland’s Farm System ready to take his game to the next level, it’s Healy.

Healy is hitting .343 on the year through sixty games in both Double and Triple A. One of the reasons he is still there, the A’s have talent at the higher level that they have to pay. A decision will have to be made. Yonder Alonso and Billy Butler are both pulling at the Oakland purse strings according to MLBTradeRumors.com

With what Ryon Healy is doing to pitching in the minor leagues, something is going to happen sooner rather than later. The former Oregon Product has shown that he is a talent and now would be the time to give him a chance, before they would have to pay him big league dollars.

On Wednesday, the former Oregon Duck has helped lead the Nashville Sound to 40 wins for the first time in their history. On Wednesday he was a big part. He had three hits to go with a run and three RBI’s in a 16-3 win over Memphis.

Healy was drafted in 2013 and has had his struggles over the last three years. His first two seasons did not go so well, but last year he got it. The momentum carried into 2016 and now he is shining in the Minor Leagues. If there is an injury in Oakland I would expect his name will be on the short list to be an addition to the Oakland A’s before the end of the season.
