Day Eight of the 2016 Olympic Trials was a good one for the Oregon Ducks. The day began with Devon Allen getting through easily in the 110 Meter Hurdles to the Semi Final and ended with a total of five former Oregon Ducks making the final in the 1500 Meters, including a very confident Andrew Wheating who earlier this week didn’t even know if he would have the opportunity.

UPDATE: Jordan McNamara was Disqualified following the race, but was reinstated after- making the Final field of thirteen, six of which have Oregon ties.

The rain held off for the first part of the Friday at the Olympic Trials but the deluge arrived during the 1500 Meters, which saw no issues on the track. In his heat, Wheating finished second behind Matthew Centrowitz to make the Sunday Final which will be the final event of the Olympic Trials at 5:20pm Pacific Time.

The Oregon Women had a good day as well. Everyone made it through in their respective heats in the Women’s 200 Meters. Jenna Prandini, who missed the cut in the 100, easily won her heat in the 200. The winning vibe also moved to the following heats as Arianna Washington and Deajan Stevens also made it into the Semi Final set for Saturday at 5pm Pacific Time.

In the 400 Meter Hurdles, the two Oregon participants, Alaysha Johnson and Sasha Wallace finished outside the Top 10 and did not move on. On the day, eight Oregon Ducks moved on in the competition and kept their Olympic Hopes alive. The story of the weekend could be split.

On one hand you have Devon Allen, whose story and comeback could be the highlight if he gets the opportunity to represent on the US Team. On the other, Wheating who has battled his own injuries over the last year and has shown that you should never give up on your dream.

On the Women’s side, Oregon has some ladies that can run. Jenna Prandini, Arianna Washington and Deajah Stevens could be a fun one to see, if they can pull off the trifecta.
