Brianne Thiesen-Eaton saw her first day of the Heptathalon to a sixth place finish with some work to do on the second day of competition to see the Medal Stand, and she came through. On the first day, the shot was her worst event, but her Long Jump to start Day 2 according to GoDucks.com, saw her gain over 1000 points as she landed the fourth best jump on the day in Rio.

That helped set the stage with a 12 point lead for third place entering the final event, the 800 meters. Theisen-Eaton hit her stride with a season’s best time to take the Bronze. Her husband, Ashton Eaton was seen in the stands, as a fan, wearing a Canada hat which apparently upset some on social media who did not know their story.

Team Canada gave Brianne permission to cheer on her husband, Ashton Eaton later this week when he competes in the Decathalon. He is looking to take the gold in back to back Olympic Decathalons and if he does, will be among a handful to complete taking the title in back to back Olympics.
