As the 2016 College Football season is upon us, a Pac-12/DirecTV partnership seems to be farther away with the Conference of Champions signing deals with Fox Sports Australia and Sling TV.

We have known all along that the Pac-12 Conference is a fan of making money, more specifically when it comes to the distribution of their Network. On Thursday  the Pac-12 signed an agreement with Sling TV.

Sling TV is an over the top distributor pushing content via the internet through various providers. They provide tv shows and live Sports at a discounted cost. The Pac-12 Network will be available in their ‘blue’ and ‘orange’ tiers which is $40 a month.

With two deals in the less than two weeks, the question about DirecTV and the Pac-12 Network may be a mute point. The battle has been going on for over four years now. The Conference of Champions has long looked at the internet model as a means of distribution, and now they have it complete with the tiered payment system they LOVE.

"Sling’s innovative delivery model and great interface makes it incredibly easy for our fans to stay connected with their favorite Pac-12 school, team and sportsLydia Murphy-Stephans on the deal with Sling TV."

The financial piece of the pie the Conference will receive will be may be smaller. Sling TV  costs about $40 for the highest tier. In the grand scheme of things I guess it is similar to an ‘upgrade’ cost for any other service like Comcast or Dish Network.
