While Oregon has the lead, Virginia has shown they can run against the Oregon Defense.

Oregon Ducks Gameday Preview

The Oregon Ducks will look to continue positive momentum from last week with the win over UC Davis into the game on Saturday night against a Power 5 Conference Opponent in Virginia. The Cavaliers are coming off a rough loss to Richmond last week where they trailed in the game 37-7 before making a little padding and a 37-20 final score.

It was the first game for Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall who was not around the program when Oregon faced Virginia at Scott Field in 2013. Then Head Coach Mike London left the program at the end of last season. Mendenhall has been successful at BYU prior to joining the Cavaliers and that is some of the game tape that Oregon watched this week in Practice. What will Virginia bring as a Defense and will it throw a young Oregon Defense off their game?

Speaking of Defense, we know Freshman Troy Dye can play for Oregon. Last week he had 11 tackles, 7 solo and 4.5 for a loss to go along with a sack and a blocked field goal. He will be fun to watch this season. Offensively for Virginia, Kurt Benkert had his debut last week against Richmond and had 26 completions and three touchdowns. It was more of a confidence building performance following the final score and loss for Virginia.

Oregon will look to get off to a fast start and push the tempo early in front of a National Television Audience on Saturday night. Prukop and the Offensive Line should be over the Autzen ‘butterflies’ from last week’s Opener and the high octane Ducks Offense should begin to reveal itself for the 2016 season.

Kickoff between Virginia and Oregon is set for 7:30pm Pacific Time on ESPN.
