Oregon Basketball Recruiting: 4-Star Shooting Guard VJ Bailey Commits to Ducks

The Oregon Ducks received a commitment from a 4-Star Shooting Guard on Tuesday night.

Last season’s run to the Elite 8 is starting to pay off for the Oregon Ducks. Victor ‘V.J.’ Bailey, a four-star Shooting Guard out of Texas has committed to Dana Altman and the Ducks for 2017 according to Scout.com.

In speaking with Scout.com, Bailey said Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman was one of the reasons he chose the Ducks, “”As far them being in the PAC-12 and their style of play, they run up and down and are able to go, The coach, coach [Dana] Altman has been coaching for a very long time. He started coaching at age 23. He’s obviously a great coach, so I’m going to play for a great coach that can develop.“

According to 247Sports, VJ Bailey is the sixth best athlete out of Texas and the 19th best at his position. He also held offers from Texas A&M, Kansas, Arkansas and Nebraska.

Bailey could come in and be an immediate contributor with the likelihood of Tyler Dorsey and Dillon Brooks heading toward the NBA Draft following the 2016 season. VJ Bailey is the Ducks first commitment for the Class of 2017.

The 2016 Oregon Ducks have started practice for the upcoming season and are expected to compete for a National Championship.
