In the offseason, Oregon shifted from 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme and over the last five weeks there has been a limit to what the new scheme has done on the field. Entering the matchup with Arizona State, the Ducks Defense is ranked 128th out of 128 teams. There have been calls to fire everyone from Head Coach Mark Helfrich to Defensive Coordinator Brady Hoke, but keep in mind that the scheme Oregon is trying to run has a big fault. Personnel.
Oregon does not have the right ‘type’ of athletes right now for the 4-3 to be successful. It will take at least a recruiting cycle before we begin to see a turnaround.
