Oregon Baseball: Offensive Breakthrough Powers Ducks Past UC Irvine

Oregon picked up a win to start the Tony Gwynn Classic on Thursday as David Peterson earned his first victory of the year.

It took a few innings for Peterson to settle in. He gave up three runs in the first inning to UC Irvine. George Horton watched Oregon battle and tie the game in the 4th with three runs of their own. Peterson threw six innings giving up 5 hits and 5 runs. The Ducks Offense got things going to the tune of 16 hits.

Third Baseman Spencer led the way with a double, home run and 4 RBI’s. Daniel Patzlaff and Tim Susnara added home runs. In the end, Oregon won 11-5 over UC Irvine. The Oregon Ducks hit .432 for the game as a team and hit at a .350 clip with runners in scoring position.
