Oregon Softball: Ducks Open Rainbow Wahine Classic With Win

The Oregon Ducks Softball team helped Starting Pitcher Maggie Balint to her sixth win of the season in an 8-2 victory over host Hawaii on Thursday night.

Oregon started their third Tournament in as many weeks to open the season and are off to a 10-0 start to begin the season. Freshman Starting Pitcher Maggie Balint threw a complete game. She was tagged for two runs early, but settled down to strike out ten allowing just four hits in her sixth win of the year.

Offensively the Oregon Softball team is in midseason form. Nikki Udria kept her home run streak alive belting one, along with a double and two RBI’s going 2 for 3. Danica Mercado also saw a run and an RBI and Transfer Alex Mack was 1 for 3 with an RBI,.

Balint was efficient throwing 100 pitches, 68 of them for strikes. The Ducks left seven batters on base and hit .400 as a team vs Hawaii in the Rainbow Wahine Classic opener. Balint held Hawaii to batting just .154 on the night.
