Oregon Volleyball: Coaches Jim Moore, Stacy Metro Fired From Program

Head Volleyball Coach Jim Moore was fired from the University of Oregon last week.

The Oregon Ducks Volleyball team will have a new look entering 2017. Head Coach Jim Moore and Coach Stacy Metro have been fired with cause according to Jonathan Hawthorne from the Eugene Daily Emerald.

Moore has had success at the helm of the University of Oregon for the last twelve seasons. He led the team to one NCAA Championship appearance against Texas in 2012 and became the winningest Volleyball coach at the school in 2014 when he reached 197 wins.

Moore just finished his 28th year as a Head Coach.

Stacy Metro, Moore’s wife, was also let go on. She had been with the Oregon Ducks as an assistant coach for the last twelve seasons. Metro was also Head Coach for the Ducks’ Beach Volleyball team that started play last year.

According to the article, both still appear on the U of O Athletics website.  Both were fired for cause last week. Jim Moore led the Oregon Ducks to a 21-10 record last season that saw a 13-7 record in the Pac-12 Conference. It led to an NCAA Tournament berth. The Oregon Ducks lost in the second round to Michigan 3 sets to 1.

Freshman Middle Blocker Ronika Stone became a solid star for the Oregon Ducks last season along with Sumeet Gill and Taylor Agost who are in line to return in 2017.
