Former Oregon Running Back LeGarrette Blount will join the Philadelphia Eagles, bolstering an already solid backfield for the upcoming season.

It appeared at the end of last season that LeGarrette Blount’s stay in New England was coming to an end. He spent the last three seasons in New England and delt with several injuries, but played hard when he saw the field racking up yards as well as touchdowns. He joins a backfield that found success last season.

As a team, Philadelphia ran for over 1800 yards last season as the team continues to build around Quarterback Carson Wentz. To compare, the team passed for close to 4000 yards in 2016. Blount could be a key on short yardage situations as he was in New England and bring key experience to a group of Older Running Backs. Darren Sproles, and Ryan Matthews averaged just under 5 yards per carry on average.

LeGarrette Blount brings Super Bowl experience to a team lacking that kind of leadership on Offense entering 2017.  I was somewhat surprised that New England did not retain Blount who had 15 Rushing Touchdowns inside the 10 yard line last season.
