While the Oregon Football Defense did their job vs Stanford, Justin Herbert was near perfect throwing for three touchdowns vs Stanford on Saturday night.

The game was a crossroads for both teams and Oregon was ready from the start to answer the call. After being down 3-0 early, Quarterback Justin Herbert was able to find Tight End Jacob Breeland for two touchdowns in the win. The first was a throw to the right front of the endzone that only Breeland could catch. Jaylon Redd, Johnny Johnson III, and Braylon Addison had key plays throughout the game that kept the Oregon Offense moving and also kept the Stanford Offense off the field.

Unlike their first two games of the season, Oregon had just 320 yards of offense for the game, and it was effective against a Stanford team that was clearly trying to find an identity. Any identity to compete. For Stanford Starting Quarterback KJ Costello, it was not a good night. He finished the game completing 16 of 30 passes for 120 yards and an interception. The Oregon defense was swarming allowing just 6 of 15 completions on third down. The Cardinal also did not help themselves on the penalty front.

Oregon is a team that offensively needs to have their tight ends involved. On Saturday, it came full circle with Jacob Breeland bringing in two touchdowns. Breeland has become a goto outlet for Herbert early this season and it is paying dividends as we begin Pac-12 play.

For Stanford under David Shaw, there has never been a three-game losing streak. The Oregon Defense continues to impress and is getting stronger as the season progresses. They have gone three straight games without giving up a touchdown and have allowed only field goals in the same span. Andy Avalos deserves a ton of credit with what he is teaching this defense.

Oregon returns home and has a bye week to get healthy in key areas. I expect some Wide Receivers including Juwan Johnson and Micah Pittman to be back on the field in two weeks when Oregon meets 3-0 California. Gametime for the Ducks and Golden Bears should be announced on Sunday.
