According to KUAthletics.com, Kansas head coach Bill Self announced Tarik Black will transfer from Memphis and has signed a grant-in-aid agreement to play men’s basketball at KU. 

Black, a 6-foot-9, 245-pound front court player from Memphis, Tenn., received his bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Memphis earlier this month and will have one year of eligibility at KU.

“Tarik has played in a ton of big games and certainly has had good experience at Memphis,” Self said. “He’s used to winning and can help us in both of our big positions. He can play the four and the five and we look forward to moving him around. He’ll be an impact player that certainly changes the outlook of our team and makes us more versatile.”

Black will have one year to showcase his skills at Kansas with a loaded front court and the #1 Recruit in the Nation, Andrew Wiggins. I’m not sure he made the best decision and he will have the ability to be a ‘playmaker’.

Time will tell.

With the loss of four players to graduation after their NCAA Tournament run, Oregon’s path back to the NCAA Tournament could be helped immensely with a few talented players. Some are already on their way in transfers guard Jalil Abdul-Bassit and guard/forward Elgin Cook and a third just committed to Dana Altman.

Matt Prehm from DuckTerritory.com is reporting that Mike Moser has made his decision. He will become an Oregon Duck.

Prehm says the announcement came via text message.  According to his former AAU coach and mentor Kumbeno Memory.

“Mike just committed to Oregon,” Memory said by text message.

Prehm says Moser has one year of eligibility remaining and an unofficial visit to Oregon last week may have sealed the deal.

The Ducks will have some new faces in 2013, along with some with the hunger to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Moser is  a nice addition along with Elgin Cook and Jalil Abdul-Bassit that will continue the program’s recent success moving forward. The Ducks just became a Top 25 Program heading into the upcoming season.

Adam Jude from the Oregonian on Twitter said that Memphis Forward Malik Black, another recruit looking to play for the Ducks was on campus at the U of O today.

Today, a look at what Pac 12 Coaches said in the Spring Game wrapup, plus an early look at the Men’s Basketball team and their potential non conference schedule, Duck Baseball heads to Ohio State this week for an out of state non conference matchup, and Arizona unveils purty new uniforms for the upcoming season(still not as stylish as the Ducks).

Pac 12 Coaches Say Ducks Will Still Be Good

If you asked around the Pac 12 Coaching Circle, several coaches would tell you that even though Chip Kelly is gone, after a quick Spring assessment, not all that much has changed with the Ducks.  In a conference call with Pac 12 Coaches this week, several said the Ducks high powered offense looks to remain in place with a few ‘touches’ from new head coach Mark Helfrich. Coach Helfrich even has a fan in Stanford Head man David Shaw.

A Glance at the Non Conference Schedule for the 2013 Basketball Team

It’s never too early for Oregon Basketball, and a quick look at the 2013-2014 non conference schedule, courtesy of  Andy Katz from ESPN. He says the Ducks are looking forward, not back with scheduling and are looking to add a home and home with the Ole Miss starting in Oxford. The Ducks will also host Big Ten school Illinois in Portland this season with a return trip to the United Center in Chicago set for next year. Dana Altman’s club will also face BYU this upcoming season.

and while on the topic of next season, the Ducks picked up a big commit today in former UNLV Forward Mike Moser. He will have one year of eligibility and will play for Oregon.

Duck Baseball Grinds Through Final  Three Weeks

It’s been a good season to be a Duck Baseball player, but there are three weeks of grind left on the schedule as Oregon looks toward Post season play.

 

Not much going on with the Ducks on the football front, at least not at the time of this post so we’ll pause and take a look at some new Pac 12 Uniforms from Arizona. Granted they don’t have the 26, 412 combinations that Oregon has at the moment, but it’s a cool new look for the Wildcats for the upcoming season.
