Just a few days ago, four-star cornerback Jermaine Kelly made the call and decommitted from the UCLA Bruins after being a member of their 2013 class since the summer. His decommitment has opened up the doors for a few other programs to nab a talented, top 25 corner in this class. One such program is the California Golden Bears, and they extended an offer Kelly’s way yesterday.

Jason O. Watson-USA TODAY Sports

The elite CB could still re-commit to UCLA, and he is also taking into consideration an offer from the Boise State Broncos. The Auburn Tigers, Oregon Ducks, and USC Trojans are the three other players in his recruitment, as Kelly likes those schools despite not having an offer from any of the three.

That could all change soon, as the Bruins loss could turn into a big gain for USC or Oregon. Looking at both recruiting class, it looks like Oregon has the better shot at landing USC if they offer, due to the room they have in the class. The Ducks have two commitments at safety, but they do not have a cornerback commit yet in the 2013 class. Thus, making Kelly a potential high-end pick-up for Oregon.

The Bishop Mora Salesian star is one of the top 40 recruits in the state of California, and the only other team that he showed interest in during his commitment to UCLA was Boise State. He visited the in-city program (UCLA, that is) four times this fall on unofficial trips, but his only official visit was to Boise State. It also came last week.

If Oregon offers, I expect them to become heavily in the mix for Kelly’s services. At this point in time, I think BSU is in the best position to land the sure-handed CB.

The Oregon Ducks are getting two key official visits in the team’s final home game of the season, and it is a chance for Chip Kelly and the staff to leave a lasting impression on these talented prospects and help bring them to Eugene. Nico Falah and Tarean Folston are two of the headliners coming to Oregon, as both of them are elite four-star prospects and among the top 150 prospects in the country.

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

Falah is an exception to Kelly’s rule that committed prospects cannot visit Oregon, and it is interesting that Kelly has made this concession for the USC Trojans commit. Falah has always been highly valued by the Ducks- and for good reason. He is one of the top 15 offensive tackles in the nation, and one of the most coveted offensive line prospects out west. Dominant in both pass protection and run blocking, the 6’5″, 270 pound St. John Bosco star has elite strength.

If he does decommit and chooses another program, then it is almost certainly going to be Oregon. If the Ducks are able to give Falah a good enough official visit, then there is a very real possibility of that happening.

Meanwhile, things are almost as wide open as it gets for four-star running back Tarean Folston. At this point in time, he is looking closest at Florida State, USF, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech. However, he is willing to check the Oregon Ducks out, and this is a big chance for Oregon to get involved in his recruitment with a big official visit.

The game against the Stanford Cardinal has big recruiting ramifications as both the final home game for the Ducks and as a huge matchup between two conference powers.

Folston is one of the top 125 recruits in the 2013 class, and the Cocoa High standout is on his second official visit after taking a trip to South Bend to check out Notre Dame last month. The four-star RB prospect is regarded as one of the top ten recruits at his position, as well as one of the top 25 recruits in the state of Florida.

He runs a 4.4 forty.

The Oregon Ducks received a commitment from one of the best defensive players in the country yesterday when four-star power forward Jordan Bell chose the Ducks over the Auburn Tigers. It would have been a surprise if the Ducks did not land Bell, who is the team’s top catch thus far in the 2013 class. In fact, the only recruit who could top Bell by committing to Oregon is top ten prospect Aaron Gordon.

Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-US PRESSWIRE

Bell took his final official visit to Auburn this past weekend, and that was really the final chance that the Tigers had at catching up to the Ducks. The long PF also had offers from other top programs such as UConn, Memphis, USC, Washington, and Texas. Oregon has certainly added an impact recruit, because Bell has the talent to be a future Pac-12 DPOY and had some elite offers to prove it.

A top 125 recruit overall, Bell’s offense has steadily improved while playing for Long Beach Poly. He has to be regarded as one of the top 25 recruits at the position, and 247Sports has him at 15th. The four-star recruit is also clearly a top ten recruit in the state of California, and this was a huge catch for Dana Altman.

What makes Bell’s commitment to Oregon even more important is the fact that the Ducks might not receive another top 150 commit in this class. The only other top prospect who is considering Oregon is Aaron Gordon, and it’s going to be extremely difficult for Altman and the Ducks to land him when going up against Lorenzo Romar and Sean Miller. The Ducks were the favorites for Bell, and they were able to get it done and land a pledge from the best shot-blocker in the 2013 class.

He is an extremely talented PF who has as much upside as any big man on the west coast, and Oregon has now landed their first basketball commit who isn’t a Robinson-twin.
