Four-star running back Derrick Green is coming off of a good official visit to the Auburn Tigers, and the Oregon Ducks target made a change to his list of leaders. Green eliminated the lone in-state school in his top six in the Virginia Tech Hokies, and he replaced them with the Miami Hurricanes. One of the reasons is likely because Green values schools who are known for putting players into the NFL.

Kelley L Cox-US PRESSWIRE

The 6’0″, 200 pound Hermitage High power back rescheduled his official visit until after the season, so he will not be watching Oregon take on Stanford this weekend. The other schools in Green’s top six are Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Michigan. The top 50 2013 prospect has his official visit to Ole Miss scheduled in two weeks. It is unclear if he will reschedule that trip as well, because it was his final official visit. Green will also be taking an official to Miami.

Derrick Green likes schools that have a good fan atmosphere, and that was a sentiment he echoed after his trip to Auburn. Green should love the atmosphere at Autzen, so that will be a key selling point for Chip Kelly and the Ducks staff (assumingGreen is able to visit during a game). If you remember, Green took his official visit to Ann Arbor when the Wolverines topped the Michigan State Spartans, and he enjoyed the atmosphere over there as well.

The visit will be crucial for Oregon in gaining momentum in his recruitment, because it looks like Auburn and Michigan are the two most likely landing spots for the elite power back who can also run a sub-4.6 forty. Green is one of the top three running backs in the country and one of the top two recruits in the state of Virginia, and he would be a different kind of elite catch at the running back position for the Oregon Ducks.

The US Army All-American Bowl selection ran for nearly 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns last season for Hermitage, and everything is wide open for the elite back. However, most recruiting analysts have Michigan as their pick. Things can change quickly, and the rescheduled visit after the season is going to be key for the Ducks.

Derrick Green and Leon McQuay III are two of the top recruits left in the 2013 class still taking a look at the Oregon Ducks, and both of them are on official visits to other schools on their lists. Top 50 recruit Derrick Green is on an official trip to the Auburn Tigers, while McQuay is officially visiting the Michigan Wolverines.

Green is regarded as one of the best five running back recruits in the 2013 class, and he is currently weighing in offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon, Virginia Tech, and Michigan. He has already taken official visits to Tennessee and Michigan, and he has an official trip to Eugene lined up next week. A week after the trip to Oregon, the Hermitage High standout has an official visit to Ole Miss scheduled.

Kirby Lee/Image of Sport-US PRESSWIRE

The owner of a 4.4 forty time, Derrick Green is regarded by some as the best prospect in Virginia. The 6’0″, 220 pound back has an excellent blend of size and speed and also has a 32-inch vertical. A participant at “The Opening”, Green rushed for 1,493 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, and he is also well-regarded for his pass-catching ability.

Leon McQuay III comes from a great football pedigree, as his father and grandfather have both played at the collegiate level. McQuay is coming off of an official visit to Oregon last week and still has official trips lined up to Florida State and USC after his visit to Michigan. He is one of the top ten recruits in the state of Florida and is generally regarded as the third or fourth best safety prospect in the 2013 class.

The Armwood High star is weighing in offers from Oregon, Michigan, Vanderbilt, Florida State, and USC. The Trojans have a high chance of landing him after his official trip in December, and Vandy, Oregon, and Michigan are also major players in his recruitment. The official trip to Eugene was certainly a big one for the Ducks, and it is pretty wide open among those five teams. The decision from Max Redfield to decommit from USC has ramifications for McQuay, because it gives USC the chance at landing him if Redfield does not recommit.

According to Steve Wiltfong from 247Sports, the running back is planning to hit Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh.

Green participated in The Opening at Beaverton, Oregon, and responded greatly to the atmosphere there. Right now he plans to come back and visit the Ducks.

The 6-foot, 218-pound recruit from Richmond, Virginia, visited Georgia today and has received an offer from the school, his 34th offer already in the class of 2013. He’s being sought out by many football programs due to achieving quick speed with a bigger body. USC, UCLA, and Washington are currently the only offers from the Pac-12.

Currently Clemson is the highest target, but expect to see additional favorites as Green continues his trip. He is four-star recruit across the board on national recruiting services.

Other Recruiting Notes with Oregon Offers:

Four-star running back Alvin Kamara has listed Georgia as a favorite.

Four-star tight end Josh McNeil delays his decision that was planned during The Opening. Alabama and Georgia are currently his top two teams.
