Oregon Baseball: Ducks Lose Civil War Weekend at PK Park - Autzen Zoo - Autzen Zoo - An Oregon Ducks Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

]]> Oregon was only able to win one game vs Oregon State over the weekend in the Civil War series at PK Park. Earlier in the season Oregon took two from Oregon State and will play at OSU Tuesday, with a win, they will take the season series vs the Beavers.

The Ducks travel to Oregon State on Tuesday and wrap up the regular season this weekend at Utah.

EUGENE, Ore. – No. 4 Oregon State jumped on No. 6 Oregon early with seven runs in the first three innings and then cruised to a 12-2 Pac-12 Conference win on Sunday at PK Park.

Michael Conforto went 3-for-5 with six RBI, including a two-out grand slam in the second inning of Oregon starter Jake Reed, to lead Oregon State (43-19, 22-5 Pac-12). Reed (6-4) took the loss for the Ducks allowing seven runs, two earned, in 2.2 innings. Ben Wetzler (7-1) got the win for OSU allowing two runs, one earned, in 6.1 innings.

Scott Heineman led Oregon going 2-for-4 with an RBI, while Tyler Baumgartner was 1-for-4 and drove in a run.

Oregon (43-13, 20-7 Pac-12) visits Oregon State Tuesday and can clinch the season series with a win over the Beavers. The Ducks won the first two meetings before OSU bounced back winning the second two between the teams.

It’s time to take a look at the Pac 12 and Wide Receivers as we head into the 2013 College Football Season. Lisa Horne from Bleacher Report shares her thoughts on the subject.

As usual there is a familiar team at the top in USC, but with Matt Barkley graduated and in the NFL, will these talented young men be able to find someone who can get them the ball? Second on the list is Washington. Horne says the Huskies may have a Heisman Darkhorse:

Austin Seferian-Jenkins may be a Heisman finalist dark horse. He is that good. Last season Seferian-Jenkins had 69 receptions for 852 yards and seven touchdowns.

The third best receiving group in the Pac 12 is Oregon(ranked ahead of Stanford). The Ducks are led by Josh Huff. One thing you may not know is that the Ducks have 16 wideouts on their roster according to Horne. I, personally think you can’t have enough players at that position and if you throw in De’Anthony Thomas. Look Out.

Other notables on her list include Oregon State(5), Utah(7), Stanford(8), Arizona(9) and Colorado at the bottom at 12.

Stanford is at the top of the Post Spring(game) rankings. He took into account Oregon’s coaching changes as a big factor in the decision to put the Ducks in 2nd place.

Here is what Miller had to say about Oregon:

While Stanford and Oregon feel like 1A and 1B, you have to account for the uncertainty of the Ducks’ changing coaches, particularly when it’s one with as big a presence as Chip Kelly. The returning talent, including Heisman Trophy hopeful Marcus Mariota at quarterback, is strong on both sides of the ball.

April 13, 2013; Stanford, CA, USA; Stanford Cardinal head coach David Shaw instructs his team after the Cardinal

Stanford is on top because they have no holes to fill and plenty of experience returning in the Fall. Of course, who could forget they also beat Oregon last season at Autzen. The Cardinal will be even stronger this season and Oregon has to travel to Palo Alto to face them.

Of course, we haven’t even played a game yet and I’m sure these rankings, like all the rest that come out in the preseason will ebb and flow as we roll on.
