Oregon is in the Sweet 16 and from the sound of it, are pretty big underdogs going into Friday. Several Mock Drafts have Dion Jordan headed to Philly, and a Spring Game must see. A former player returns to score a touchdown at Cal’s Spring game. Could Oregon be lining up something similar next month? We’ll have to wait and see. Plus, with Oregon’s Sweep of Arizona over the weekend, Baseball moves up in the polls. Welcome to This Week’s LinkedUp on AutzenZoo.

Oregon Basketball Gets Ready for the #1 Overall Seed Louisville and No Respect is Headed Oregon’s Way

I find you can never know enough about your opponent, especially when it comes to Louisville. Everyone from ESPN to CBS isn’t giving the Ducks the slightest chance against the Cardinals, and I’m sure that’s just the way Oregon wants it. A little added motivation never hurt any. Even the folks in the betting world are giving Louisville about a 10 point edge as of this report.

Louisville is going to be tough for the Ducks, and like Oregon, they have a good mix of players. Many have commented that they wished that the Tournament Committee reseeded the Tournament once it reached the Sweet 16. Well, ESPN has granted that wish. Oregon was seeded 9th overall, placing as a 3 seed for the ‘Sweet 16′.

Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman was on the radio in Portland on Monday talking about Louisville with John Canzano(host of the Bald Faced Truth).

Speaking of Madness, According to Mashable.com, 26 percent of those who watched the first rounds of the NCAA Tournament used their mobile device. Check out some of the other cool stats as well, including what networks spend now for coverage compared to 30 years ago.

Oregon faces off with Louisville on Friday at 4:15pm PT on CBS.

NFL Draft is about a month away. One Mock Draft has Philly Picking the Obvious…

He worked with Chip Kelly when he was Head Coach for Oregon and one mock draft, I’m sure there are several have Philly taking Dion Jordan with the #4 pick. Another post Combine Report says not so fast. However, the familiarity factor may make this pick too easy to make.

Cal Bears Offer a Surprise at Their Spring Game, Could Ducks do the Same?

It was a pleaseant surprise during the Cal Spring Game on Saturday, as the Bears get set for the 2013 season. Seattle Seahawks Running Back and Cal Alum Marshawn Lynch entered the game on a 4th Down play and scored a touchdown.

It’s the Spring game, so I guess you can do stuff like that. How awesome would it be to see LaMichael at Autzen – it would be worth the price of admission, which is free. The Spring Game for the Ducks is Saturday, April 27th at 11am PT. The game will be broadcast live on the Pac 12 Networks.

Speaking of the Spring game, OregonLive.com looks at Running Back Byron Marshall, and the Register Guard has a look at the ‘language’ of the Oregon Ducks.

Oregon Baseball Sweeps Defending National Champ Arizona, Wildcats Leave Eugene Still in Search of First Pac 12 Win

Oregon was rewarded and moved up three spots in the latest Baseball poll that matters after sweeping Arizona at PK Park. In the Baseball America Poll the Ducks are 12th(from 13th). In the Collegiate Baseball Poll they moved up five spots to 10th. If you average out the five polls the Ducks are ranked in, Oregon places at 10th in the country. (The Oregon State Beavers moved up a spot to 2nd)

Interview with Oregon Women’s Track and Field Athete Laura Roesler from her Hometown(Fargo, ND) radio station Tuesday Morning

Christopher Gabriel, Host on AM 970 WDAY in Fargo, North Dakota will talk with hometown track athlete Laura Roesler, now a Junior at the University of Oregon. Check out what she has to say on one of the Top Track and Field Programs in the country.

A Former Oregon Duck found his way to Philadelphia. Safety Patrick Chung will have the chance to play for his former coach. In a matter of a few hours after free agency began, they signed defensive lineman Isaac Sopoaga, safety Patrick Chung, and tight end James Casey to three-year contracts and cornerback Bradley Fletcher and linebacker Jason Phillips to two-year deals.

According to Comcast Sportsnetin Philadelphia Chung’s deal is worth $10 Million over 3 years.

Four of these players are young and teachable. They came out of the 2009 Draft and all have NFL Field experience. Chung most recently with the New England Patriots.

Chung opened the 2012 season as a starter alongside Steve Gregory, but after injuring his shoulder late in an Oct. 14 loss at Seattle never regained his spot on the depth chart. The Patriots ultimately moved Devin McCourty from cornerback to safety and Chung was utilized as a reserve upon his return.

According to ESPN, in his four seasons with the Patriots, Chung played in 50 of a possible regular-season games, as he battled a series of injuries. He totaled 235 tackles (coaches tabulations), three sacks and seven interceptions, while adding 25 special teams tackles.

The Patriots have McCourty, Gregory, 2012 second-round draft choice Tavon Wilson and 2012 sixth-round draft pick Nate Ebner atop the current safety depth chart.

The folks in Philly now have a full 80s band so to speak in signing both Offensive Tackle Ed Wang, and Safety Patrick Chung.

We reported back on January 30th that Dennis Dixon may have interest from his former coach, Chip Kelly who is now with the Philadelphia Eagles. This was true, so true that today Dixon has signed a two year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles(as reported by NFL Breaking News Guru Adam Schefter on Twitter).

After resigning Michael Vick to a one year deal last week, Kelly said there will be an open competition in camp for who will lead the team. It looks like Dixon will get an opportunity for some playing time with his former coach.

Now coming off a one year deal with the Baltimore Ravens and running while running the practice squad played the part of RGIII before the Ravens played the Washington Redskins, Dixon may have the chance to run an offense to a Super Bowl.

“We are excited to bring in Dennis Dixon to compete at the quarterback position. Dennis is a veteran in this league that has been a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in his career. He’s also very familiar with Chip Kelly and how he operates.” Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman

The former Oregon signal caller injured his left knee against Arizona in 2007, his Senior season with the Ducks and tore his ACL ending the Championship run. Dixon has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens and has now been signed to a two year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. Before the injury in 2007 Dixon threw for 29 touchdowns.

Dixon is happy to be in Philadelphia with his former coach,

‘If everybody buys into what Chip Kelly is selling, the sky’s the limit’

In speaking recently with Philly.com, Dixon added he is going to put his best foot forward and let the chips fall where they may. If nothing else, the Eugene/Springfield area will get to see a lot of Philadelphia Eagles football over the next few years and more eyes will now be on Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp from the Willamette Valley and beyond.
