This year’s Super Bowl came in as the third highest rated program of the year. When we look back on Super Bowl 47 we won’t remember the power outages, which there was apparently a Plan B to ensure the game was completed on Sunday Night, or necessarily the commercials. We will remember how lights out San Francisco was in the second half coming back from a twenty two point deficit to have a shot at a victory in the end.

For Oregonians, who follow the Ducks we’ll remember Ed Dickson and Haloti Ngata getting Super Bowl rings and fan favorite LaMichael James, who didn’t play the first 12 weeks of the regular season, being just a fumble away. Football is a funny game sometimes, but one thing I know. James did not seem like himself this year. I’m sure he will take the offseason to heal from his injuries of his rookie season in the NFL.

James had three carries for twenty yards, and the fumble. Going into the game no San Francisco QB had ever thrown an interception in a Super Bowl, but that changed last night too. The Baltimore Ravens were victorious on a last second goal line stand, with a VERY questionable holding call that wasn’t called, and should have been says San Franciso 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.

Former Oregon Ducks on the Ravens had some contributions as well. Haloti Ngata had two solo tackles and a hit on San Francisco Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and Ed Dickson had two catches for 37 yards. Nate Neubauer on Twitter reminded me of another Dixon that picked up a ring, Dennis Dixon. The former Oregon Duck signal caller helped with the practice squad before the game and played the part of Colin Kaepernick. Dixon’s contract was for one year and has expired, but rumors are he will reunite with former Oregon Coach Chip Kelly in Philadelphia.

In the end Ray Lewis got the swan song he wanted. A final Super Bowl Victory, 34-31 over the San Francisco 49ers. In other news, with Chip Kelly in Philadelphia, Eagles fans should be kind of happy, they are a 50-1 shot for next year’s Super Bowl. Before Chip, the last two years, Philly has beaten the eventual Super Bowl Champ in the regular season.

There is plenty going on this Super Bowl weekend with Oregon Athletics. Of course, the Oregon Men’s Basketball team looks to bounce back from a loss on Wednesday at Stanford. The Oregon Women’s Basketball team will have a go at entertaining two Top 10 teams, and you can help Oregon get on the next cover for EA Sports NCAA 13 Video game.

Dana Altman looks to get his team back on track and EJ Singler looks to get back to scoring some points in the first half after being held scoreless on Thursday at Stanford. The 10th Ranked Ducks continue their road trip and travel to Cal Saturday at 1:30 (ROOT Sports). I wish, sometimes that the Men’s Basketball Schedule for the Pac 12 was better this year. The conference seems down with only two ranked teams (Arizona, and Oregon) ranked in the Top 25. This, however is opposite for Women’s Basketball.

This week the poll has several Pac 12 Opponents for the Oregon Women’s Basketball in the Top 10.

The Oregon Women(3-17, 1-7 Pac 12) is having a rough season, similar to last year with injuries. There is a bright spot in several players with confidence and playing well on the court this season. Last weekend the Ducks scored their first Pac 12 victory on the season against Washington State. Oregon’s Ariel Thomas had 20 points and 11 rebounds. After losing to Stanford on Friday night the Oregon women look to get a win against Cal on Sunday at 1pm. The game will be on the Pac 12 Live Stream available online at goducks.com

Super Bowl Sunday is almost upon us and features several Ducks including LaMichael James from the San Francisco 49ers and Haloti Ngata from the Baltimore Ravens. Kickoff is 3:30 Pacific time on CBS.

Finally, Don’t Forget to Vote for Former Oregon Running Back Kenjon Barner for the NCAA Football 2013 Cover Vote on Facebook.

Oregon’s Kenjon Barner was chosen and he needs your vote, you can cast it on the EA Sports Football Fan Page on Facebook.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Looking Ahead:

Oregon Men’s Basketball returns home to Matthew Knight Arena, host Colorado Thursday February 7th at 7pm(ESPNU), and Utah Saturday February 9th at 5pm on Pac 12 Networks.

Oregon Women take to the road to face Utah Friday February 8th at 6pm, and Colorado Sunday, February 10th at 12:30. Both Women’s games are on the Pac 12 Live Stream.

Oregon Softball Ranked 6th in the first ESPN/USA Softball Preseason Poll Season Begins Thursday, February 7th in Michigan at the Kagigawa Classic in Tempe Arizona. They’ll face Western Michigan
