Press Release from the University of Oregon/GoDucks.com:

The University of Oregon and University of Virginia have announced a home-and-home football series that will commence Sept. 7 with the Ducks’ inaugural trip to Charlottesville and conclude with the Cavaliers first visit to Autzen Stadium on Sept. 10, 2016.

This season’s road contest takes the place of Oregon’s previously scheduled trip to Nevada, which has been rescheduled for Sept. 7, 2019, in Eugene.

“This opportunity presented itself after we were approached by Nevada about a schedule change,” said Director of Athletics Rob Mullens. “We were open to the idea of adding a series against a BCS automatic qualifying conference and this should prove to be an exciting one for our fans, as well as an opportunity for our student-athletes to test themselves against a major conference opponent.”

Not only will Sept. 7 mark Oregon’s first visit to Virginia’s Scott Stadium, but it will also be the Ducks’ first road game under recently appointed head coach Mark Helfrich.

“This will be a great early challenge for our team and one that will help prepare us for Pac-12 play,” Helfrich said. “A bicoastal regular season game is unique in college football and we’re excited to be a part of it.”

The Ducks are 0-2 all-time against ACC competition and have never faced an ACC opponent during the regular season. Both losses came against Wake Forest in postseason play – the 1992 Independence Bowl (39-35) and 2002 Seattle Bowl (38-17). UO lost to current ACC member Miami in 1958 (2-0), when the Hurricanes were an independent.

Oregon’s latest home-and-home series is one of several high-profile clashes on the schedule moving forward. The Ducks also have series planned with Michigan State (H2014/A2015), Texas A&M (H2018/A2019) and Ohio State (H2020/A2021). UO faces Tennessee this Sept. 14 at Autzen Stadium, concluding a home-and-home that saw the Ducks visit Knoxville in 2010 (48-13 Oregon win).

According to Steve Wiltfong from 247Sports, the running back is planning to hit Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh.

Green participated in The Opening at Beaverton, Oregon, and responded greatly to the atmosphere there. Right now he plans to come back and visit the Ducks.

The 6-foot, 218-pound recruit from Richmond, Virginia, visited Georgia today and has received an offer from the school, his 34th offer already in the class of 2013. He’s being sought out by many football programs due to achieving quick speed with a bigger body. USC, UCLA, and Washington are currently the only offers from the Pac-12.

Currently Clemson is the highest target, but expect to see additional favorites as Green continues his trip. He is four-star recruit across the board on national recruiting services.

Other Recruiting Notes with Oregon Offers:

Four-star running back Alvin Kamara has listed Georgia as a favorite.

Four-star tight end Josh McNeil delays his decision that was planned during The Opening. Alabama and Georgia are currently his top two teams.
