Will LSU QB be Suspended for Oregon vs. LSU Opener?

Memories of Cliff Harris’ speeding incident come to mind again when reading about trouble with some of LSU’s athletes including starting QB Jordan Jefferson. SportsNOLA reported Saturday (source) that four LSU football players, including Jefferson, will be taken into police custody on Monday. The players were allegedly involved in a fight early Friday morning outside an off-campus bar. There were four people injured in the altercation.

LSU head coach Les Miles commented in a Saturday morning press conference;

“We will not tolerate student-athletes whose irresponsible actions tarnish the good name of a great university. LSU student-athletes are expected to behave with the understanding that they represent their school, their fellow students and the long history of this program, regardless of the time of day. Coach Miles has already begun taking disciplinary action. It is critical that we are deliberate in determining the facts surrounding this incident and as Coach Miles said, when the facts are clear, additional and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if necessary.”

With only two weeks to the Oregon vs. LSU game this is unwelcome news. Cliff Harris will be sitting this one out and now we will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow. I am sorry to hear about this incident and it will be interesting to see how Coach Miles proceeds with this if the allegations are correct. As an Oregon fan I would have loved for this epic battle in Arlington to be played with both teams’ full force, but it looks like there is a possibility there will be others sitting this one out.
