AutzenZoo Pac-12 Power Rankings

  1. Stanford: The Cardinals had a bye over the weekend so they will remain #1 on AutzenZoo’s list.  They play the Bruins this weekend and it is doubtful they will fall.
  2. Oregon: LSU moves to the #1 spot and I love it.  Oregon played their Pac-12 opener over the weekend against the Wildcats and by the end of it Arizona retreated licking their wounds.  James had a breakout night, breaking Oregon’s all-time single-game rushing record.  The Ducks look forward to Cal next Thursday.
  3. Washington: The Huskies made their own statement on Saturday in their Pac-12 opener against the Bears.  The Huskies are at 3 – 1 for the first time since 2006.  The game ended with a Washington defensive stand earning them a step-up in these rankings.
  4. Arizona State: The Sun Devils had a tough test on Saturday against the Trojans.  USC had won the previous 11 matches against ASU, but this time things were different.  Cameron Marshall looked phenomenal (coming off an ankle sprain the prior week) with three of his own Sun Devil touchdowns.  It was the Sun Devils who looked like saints with USC racking up the personal foul penalties.
  5. Utah: The Utes had a bye this weekend, and by default they are moving down one based on some Pac-12 statements over the weekend.  They take on the Huskies this Saturday.
  6. Cal: A roughing up of Presbyterian won’t advance the Golden Bears in this list, but there weren’t signs in the Pac-12 they should drop either.
  7. Arizona: Make the three top-ranked schools in a row for Arizona.  The Wildcats aren’t faring so well in the early part of their schedule and this week they have another away game against the Trojans who are coming off their loss to ASU.  It doesn’t look great for the Wildcats.
  8. Washington State: It was a bye week for the Cougs so we’ll have to wait until this weekend to see what they can do against the Pac-12 this season.  Up next they face the Buffs away.
  9. UCLA: The Bruins showed some life over the weekend going into Corvallis and winning their Pac-12 opener.  Brehaut became the clear starting QB for UCLA and Neuheisel  may feel just a bit safer.
  10. USC: I’m moving the Trojans up a couple simply because now in Pac-12 play they do have the power to make or break other schedules.  Last week they helped Arizona State’s – knocking off the Tojans created a #25 spot for the Sun Devils.
  11. Colorado: The Buffs continue their road losing streak as they fell to Ohio State over the weekend.  They are in a close race with the Beavers for the last spot on this list.
  12. Oregon State: Coming off their bye, the Beavers faced the Bruins at home over the weekend.  They still couldn’t get things done and start their season 0 -3 for the first time since 1996.
