Spotlight on Oregon Men’s Basketball | #23 Jeremy Jacob
This week our Oregon Men’s Basketball spotlight will be on #23 redshirt Senior Jeremy Jacob. Jacob played for Oregon in the 2010/11 season last year but did miss a number of games due to knee injuries. Of the 17 games (eight starts) he averaged 6.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Standing at 6’8’’ and 230 lbs. Jacob’s role will be vital on this year’s team. Jacob will offer senior leadership and experience for the team this season. Jacob has gone through surgery to repair cartilage damage in both knees – the most recent being in March on his right knee. Earlier this Summer Coach Dana Altman spoke about Jacob’s status and potential;
“That’s been a real plus for us, having him out here and able to practice. Hopefully he’ll get himself in really good condition and have a great senior year. He’s someone who can score baskets, he’s got a feel for the Pac-12, Pac-10, and I think he can help us with his experience.”

We got to see Jacobs in action during the team’s exhibition tour in Italy – he hadn’t played in any games previously since February. During the Ducks’ victory over Verese Jacob put up a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Hopefully Jacob’s experience and senior status, combined with some of the new talent on the Oregon team this year (both freshman and transfers) will equate to a successful Pac-12 season and a possible trip to the tournament in March.
