Cedrick Poutasi visiting Oregon Ducks
Offensive line recruit Cedrick Poutasi has already committed to the Utah Utes, but he will visit the Oregon Ducks campus. The Ducks have always had a high level of interest in the guard who is a three-star recruit according to ESPN and a four-star recruit per Rivals. Poutasi committed to Utah in early January, but he once stated in September that he would commit to Oregon if offered a scholarship.
“That was a long time ago,” Poutasi said. “They waited so long to offer that I almost felt like a backup plan for a while there. I’m still excited about the visit and Oregon has a great program. I was excited when they did offer and I’m going to take this visit with an open mind and see how it goes.”
The last sentence is especially important, because the Ducks do have a chance at recruiting one of the most talented offensive linemen in the state of Nevada. ESPN and Rivals are divided on Poutasi, because ESPN (Scouts grade of 78) sees him as the 75th best in the nation, while he is tenth in the Rivals’ rankings. However, ESPN also lists him as a tackle instead of a guard.
Hopefully, Poutasi reconsiders and bolsters an offensive line that will be losing star Mark Asper on the right side. With some added seasoning, Poutasi could turn into a good, fringe All-Conference type guard for the Ducks. He will most likely end up as an above-average piece in the line at the college level with a strong upper body and decent quickness. The chances of Cedrick Poutasi committing to the Ducks is slim, but there is still hope that the Ducks can add to their recruiting class.
