Jimmie Sherfy Pitcher of the Week
It has been announced that Oregon Ducks right-hander Jimmie Sherfy has been named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after striking out 13 batters in relief against Hawaii. He pitched 5 2/3 innings overall without allowing a run, and he struck out six consecutive Warriors at one point.
Jimmie Sherfy was cool in the clutch, as he struck out Kaeo Aliviado in the 12th inning with the bases load to preserve the 3-2 lead for the Ducks. This is Oregon’s third conference Pitcher of the Week award in school history, and it is the sophomore’s first ever. It was a terrific relief performance by Jimmie Sherfy, and it saved the Ducks a tough battle. Catcher/Outfielder and fellow sophomore Aaron Jones was nominated as Player of the Week, but he lost out to Arizona State’s Abe Ruiz for the award. Jones had a .500 OBP and was instrumental in the Ducks opening series victory.
