Alfred Pullom and Oregon Ducks
According to this article on ESPN.com, Cy Woods high school defensive back recruit Alfred Pullom has received interest from the Oregon Ducks. Five schools are currently listed on ESPN’s school list, and all of them are either in the Big 12 or in Texas- aside from the Ducks, of course.
247Sports rates him as a three star recruit at safety, but Alfred Pullom is not rated by any other recruiting service at this time. He looks like a fringe top 50 safety (No. 51 by 247Sports) and would be a good addition for the Ducks in 2013. They will lose a considerable amount of talent in the secondary, and it’s always good to have bodies in the defensive backfield. This is especially true in a defensive set-up like Oregon’s, and the fact that this team spent so much time on the field on defense last season shows the need for DBs.
Alfred Pullom has a high amount of interest in Texas A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma State, but the Oregon Ducks have snatched away recruits from the Aggies and the Big 12 in the past and can do it again. They are one of the premier schools in the country, and recruits are starting to treat them like it.
While Alfred Pullom isn’t a special player, he is a solid all-around player who can be at least good back-up for the Ducks and should start as an upperclassman. He notched three interceptions last season and is able to play run support and coverage, but he is not spectacular at either- just solid. His main asset is as a player with a nose for the ball who can add tackles and picks, but the statistics do make Alfred Pullom look a little better than he is. Still, he is a quality player who would be a nice addition to Oregon, and teams are starting to take notice of him and know that he is a potential sleeper in the making.
