Oregon Ducks Josh Huff DUI

facebooktwitterreddit

A Eugene police officer pulled over Oregon Ducks wide receiver Josh Huff for speeding, and he was later arrested for driving under the influence, although the type of intoxicant is unknown. Huff did not have a licence either, which is reminiscent of troubles in the past for Oregon Ducks players while driving.

Josh Huff will likely be suspended for a few games, but there could be harsher repercussions. However, severely punishing a young athlete doesn’t do much to help them. It is best if the Ducks work with Huff and help him to learn from his mistakes. I don’t want to start talking about Cliff Harris, unless if it’s the one who played for the Cowboys back in the day, but players need to be handled correctly.

Next season, Josh Huff will be a junior and is one of the most experienced players in the receiving corps. He has shown flashes of potential, and and he can put it all together as an upperclassman. However, Huff needs to be more mature and show that he is willing to improve and grow as a player and leader for this football team.

As a freshman, Huff emerged as a quality red zone option with three receiving touchdowns and even added a pair of rushing touchdowns. Last season, he increased his overall output to 31 catches and 430 yards with two touchdowns. Josh Huff has the ability to stretch the field and is the team’s best receiving option as their leading returning pass-catcher.

It is unlikely that Huff will be kicked off the team, but expect Chip Kelly to send him a message and suspend him for a few games. Right now, the pending punishment for the talented receiver is unknown. I hope the Ducks let him stay and work closely with him to get things back on track. He’s a young guy who will learn from his mistakes, but he needs the opportunity and help to do it. Some people never learn, but here’s hoping that Josh Huff is with the majority and will get things back together. After all, he can also handle kick-off returns and was one of the better returners in the nation as a frosh.
