Anthony Standifer commits to Ole Miss
Three-star cornerback Anthony Standifer has committed to Ole Miss, and it took the top 50 cornerback and 2012 recruit quite a while to pick his future university. Standifer previously decommitted from Big Ten heavyweights Michigan and was in limbo for a long time. He received an offer from the Arizona Wildcats, and the Pac-12 team was viewed as one of the front-runners.
While the Oregon Ducks did not send Anthony Standifer an offer, they did have interest in the cornerback from Illinois and, as a big school, had an outside shot at landing the 6’1″, 178 pound cornerback who was among the best 15 recruits in the state. Instead, he will add to Ole Miss’s solid recruiting haul for the 2012 recruiting class.
Anthony Standifer is stronger and faster than he looks, so he’s one of those corners who has deceptive athleticism. Some receivers forget that he is stronger than advertised and has good instincts. His ball skills are above-average, and he can read a quarterback and cut the deep ball. Standifer is a solid corner who has the abilities of a free safety in coverage. He can get his arms up there and is long enough to hang with the big receivers in college football.
