Luke Ridnour Double-Double without Rubio

Now that star point guard Ricky Rubio has been injured, the Minnesota Timberwolves are no longer a decent team anymore. The elite passer and defensive player is out for the season with an ACL tear, and this is a shocking event for the Spaniard playing in his first season in the NBA. He has done a terrific job and has definitely made his teammates better, which goes a long way; Rubio is the perfect fit for this team. In their first game without him, the Wolves lost 95-89 against the New Orleans Hornets.

That said, it is former Oregon Ducks point guard Luke Ridnour’s time to shine, but he has been subpar so far this season. However, if there is one thing that Luke Ridnour can do extremely well; it’s passing the ball. He notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists, even though he went just 5-13 from the floor and 1-4 from deep. As usual, Ridnour had a couple of turnovers (3) but was more effective than he was last time out (+15 EFF).

Despite a lower field goal percentage, Luke Ridnour averaged more points per possession than he did in the Lakers game (.79 against the New Orleans Hornets). Ridnour did a decent job in this game, but there is definitely a drop off in play between Ridnour and Rubio as far as facilitating the game goes. This is a big stretch of time for the former Duck, and it’s time for Luke Ridnour to up his game and lead this team.
