Jared Goff commits to California

The California Golden Bears added their first commitment in the 2013 Recruiting Class, after quarterback Jared Goff, who has always wanted to play for Cal, committed to the Golden Bears yesterday.

“It was my first offer — which obviously meant a lot, because they took a risk with it — and that meant a lot, but I thought about it for a month, got a couple more offers and then, I went back there today,” Goff toldBearTerritory.net. “Over the last couple weeks or so, I’ve been talking about it with my parents and stuff, and really, there’s no place better for me than Cal. It just seems to be the perfect fit for me, and everything about it — from the offense to the academics to everything they do there — just seems to be perfect for me. ”

Jared Goff and Cal is the perfect match, but he also received offers from Boise State and Washington State. The Oregon Ducks were among the teams with interest in Goff, as were Washington, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Oregon State, and Miami. However, the four-star, top 25 quarterback is definitely with the right team at this point, and I highly doubt Jared Goff switches to a different team; he is committed to Cal for the long run. Nothing is set in stone, but this seems pretty much a done deal.

As a Junior, Goff threw 45 TD passes with just four interceptions and over 3,000 yards. He is going to be Jeff Tedford’s guy in 2013 and is definitely a QB to watch develop. I like his arm and intelligence, and he is one of the best pro-style quarterbacks in this recruiting class. Jared Goff is, again, the perfect fit for Cal, and I am happy for the fans at Berkeley, because they have a future quality starter in their hands. This is a guy who knows what is involved at Cal and has been a fan of the school for some time, so it doesn’t get much better than this.
