Ivan Johnson scores 10 in win

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers yesterday 103-87, as Joe Johnson led the way with a huge 11-16, 28 point game with 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Former Oregon Duck Ivan Johnson once again had a valuable game off the bench, and the Hawks were ten points better in the 24 minutes that Johnson played. He went a perfect 5-5 with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks and has been a revelation for Atlanta this season. Needless to say, Ducks fans are proud of what Ivan Johnson has done.

The Hawks received 40 minutes from Zaza Pachulia, but not even his 12 rebounds could undo a poor 3-11 performance. Josh Smith was even worse as a shooter, because he made the same number of field goals…in 15 attempts. Smith, however, had the highest +/- on the team (+12) and added 8 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the way in the passing category.

Jeff Teague has always been a favorite of mine, and the point guard unleashed a great 8-14 game for 18 total points and punctuated it with two blocks for Atlanta. He and Ivan Johnson were the only Hawks with multiple blocks.

The inefficient line of the day goes to Antawn Jamison, who chucked up 22 shots and made just six of them. And he’s a power forward. No wonder why some Cleveland fans can’t wait to see him leave. Jamison had 7 boards and never turned it over, but he was still terrible. The only true bright spot on the Cavs in the 16-point loss was Alonzo Gee, who scored 20 points and had 9 rebounds. Heck, even rookie phenom Kyrie Erving did poorly (6-14), and Ivan Johnson and Joe, especially, led the way in a big Hawks win. Atlanta (26-19) has as many wins as the Cavs losses (16-26).
