Thomas Johnson Enrolls at Texas A&M
By Brian Spaen
In a change to what Autzen Zoo has mostly covered in the recruiting landscape, 2012 recruit Thomas Johnson has officially been enrolled at Texas A&M. Johnson was one of the nearly 100 players offered in the Ducks’ football recruiting class.
Johnson is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound wide receiver from Dallas, Texas. Oregon was one of the last schools he had visits with until officially signing and committing to the Aggies on February 11th. This was after he decommitted from in-state rivals, Texas, on January 6th.
In his final season at Skyline, Johnson did a little of both rushing and passing after converting from just a back in 2009. He caught 59 passes and had a total of 1,077 yards and 13 touchdowns. On the ground, he ran it 16 times for 226 yards and four additional touchdowns.
Scouting services all had Johnson ranked high. He was listed as 44th in the Top 247, 33rd in the ESPN 150, and 34th in the Rivals 100. A top five ranking was also achieved in his position.
Other schools he passed up were Arizona, Auburn, California, Kansas, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Purdue, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA, and USC.
