The Ducks have landed their fourth commitment of the 2013 recruiting class. Johnny Mundt, a tight end from Modesto, California, passes over a home state offer from the University of California to play for Oregon.

Yesterday, Mundt sent this message from his Twitter account (@mundt209):

"I have committed to the University of Oregon and couldn’t be happier. #GoDucks#WTD"

The hashtag, #WTD, represents the Ducks’ motto, “Win the Day.” Mundt previously posted a photo of Autzen Stadium on Twitter last Saturday, showing signs then of his interest in the program.

Justin Hopkins, from 247Sports, later confirmed Mundt’s commitment. The scouting service has given him a three-star ranking, but doesn’t rank in their Top 247, at position, or in the state.

That doesn’t mean Mundt hasn’t been looked at. He passed up other offers from California, Colorado, Duke, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon State, and San Diego State. Stanford had interest but never gave him an offer.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end was recruited by special teams coach, Tom Osborne. In Mundt’s junior season at Central Catholic, he played both at tight end and defensive end. According to MaxPreps, he had 13 catches in six games for 267 yards and two touchdowns. Despite 53 total tackles and 7.5 sacks on the year, he’s being recruited as just a tight end.
