Football Odds: Oregon Among Highest Over/Unders
By Brian Spaen
Both Oregon and USC are highly favored to compete for the Pac-12 title in December. Vegas agrees that there shouldn’t be much trouble along the way for either team to get there.
Bill Barnwell on Grantland posted numerous updated prices on college football over/under totals yesterday. Both Oregon and USC have totals at 10.5 wins this season.
What does the half point mean? Instead of getting into the story of why Vegas adds half points on some totals and not others, it just means that when selecting an over or under, there obviously no push – it’s either a win or a loss for the bettor.
These totals just represent the games that are scheduled for the team this season. That means that any wins accumulated in the conference championship game or bowl game do not count in this total.
So, Vegas essentially is giving room for the Oregon vs USC matchup on November 3rd. For those that pick the over, that’s the only game that either team can afford to lose.
Other notable Pac-12 lines:
- Vegas expects a bounceback year for Utah, slotting them with the third-highest win total at eight games.
- Oregon State, Washington State, and Arizona all clock in with a 5.5 win total.
- The lowest win total in the conference is Colorado with 4 games.
