NFL Preseason Recap: Week 3 – Saturday

facebooktwitterreddit

Nine Oregon Duck alumni were on NFL rosters in preseason action on Saturday night.  These Ducks were a part of three games.  The Colts, Redskins, Lions and Raiders do not feature any Ducks trying to make those respective teams.

The Houston Texans had three former Ducks going into their game against the New Orleans Saints who have one of their own.  Eddie Pleasant is a strong safety who made four tackles in the Texans 34-27 victory over the Saints.  Jeff Maehl is trying to make the team as a wide receiver but he did not show up in the box score.  Defensive tackle Ra’Shon Harris was inactive.  Fenuki Tupou is a backup right guard on the Saints.

Kellen Clemens looks like he’s going to the backup in St. Louis to Sam Bradford.  In the Cowboys 20-19 win, Clemens completed six of nine passes for 68 yards and one touchdown.  His touchdown came in the fourth quarter when he hit Austin Pettis for a two-yard score.  The Cowboys do not feature any Ducks on their roster.

The Bills and Steelers have two Ducks each on their team.  The Steelers have tight ends David Paulson and Justin Peelle and the Bills have Mark Asper (OL) and Jairus Byrd (FS).  Byrd is the Bills starting safety.  Byrd, Paulson and Peelle did not record any statistics during the Steelers 38-7 victory.

The NFL preseason continues tonight with two more games.  The New York Jets take on the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers take on the Denver Broncos to conclude week three.  There are five more Oregon Ducks in action tonight.  Jonathan Stewart is the only former Duck playing in the Panthers versus Jets game at running back.

LaMichael James (RB), Kenny Rowe (LB) and (DT) Will Tukuafu are all playing for the 49ers and they will take on Jeremiah Johnson (RB) and the Denver Broncos.
