Oregon Ducks Football: De’Anthony Thomas on Sports Illustrated Cover
Oregon Ducks superstar RB/WR De’Anthony Thomas graces the new Sports Illustrated cover, which is currently only available on mobile devices. The edition focuses on speed, with “Speed Wins” written in all caps on the top of the cover.

Thomas is dubbed, “The fastest man in football”, which is a statement that almost everyone has to agree on. This is a guy who has made himself a top five Heisman candidate with his incredible speed and elusiveness, and he is going to be a nightmare for defenses all season along, especially against the Ducks upcoming opponent; the Arizona Wildcats. The ‘Cats have an inexperienced defense, and it is Thomas’s turn to do what LaMichael James did every year; shred Arizona’s run D.
Please, keep the “SI curse” remarks to yourself, because Thomas is immune to all curses. Why? He’ll outrun them.
It’s great to see that Thomas keeps piling on the accolades and is getting more national adoration, and he will continue to rise in Heisman polls. I’m interested in seeing if he’ll be able to beat out Matt Barkley for the Pac-12 Player of the Year award, and he is certainly gaining momentum following USC’s loss to Stanford (not Barkley’s fault though, that’s for sure) as well as his own great performances through the first three games this season.
We’ll see how “The fastest man in football” performs against Arizona, and I highly doubt he falls privy to the SI curse given the ‘Cats defense and his own prowess.
