Pac-12 Football Recap: Week Seven

Week seven of Pac-12 play is in the books with the Oregon Ducks having the week off before traveling to Tempe this upcoming Thursday night as did the Arizona Wildcats. Arizona State took care of Colorado in Boulder to open conference play.

Stanford went to South Bend and lost in overtime (well, if you thought the runner was down), UCLA won at the Rose Bowl. Southern Cal went to Seattle and took advantage of Washington turnovers. Oregon State remains unbeaten and Cal evened up their conference record in the Pulluz.

Thursday, October 11

Arizona State (5-1, 3-0) 51 @ Colorado (1-5, 1-2) 17 – Colorado trailed 20-17 at the half before ASU scored 31 points in the second half. Taylor Kelly had another solid outing for the Sun Devils going 20-of-38 for 308 yards with five touchdowns, three of which were caught by Marion Grice.

Saturday, October 13

Utah (2-4, 0-3) 14 @ UCLA (5-2, 2-2) 21 – Brett Hundley found the form that UCLA has come to know when the Bruins play well. Hundley was 15-21, 183 yards with a TD through the air and had 68 on the ground with a score.

17 Stanford (4-2) 13 @ 7 Notre Dame (6-0) 20 F/OT – Stanford took a 10-3 lead into the fourth quarter which they held until the Irish tied the score with 20 seconds left in regulation. Stepfan Taylor had 102 yards on 28 carries as the Cardinal’s only score came on defense. Taylor looked to get in the endzone during OT but the refs ruled his progress stopped before the ball crossed the plain.

10 Oregon State (5-0) 42 @ BYU (4-3) 24 – No Sean Mannion? Road game? No problem as long as the town you’re in has In-N-Out Burger for these Beavers. Tied at 21 going into the fourth quarter Oregon State outscored the Cougars 21-3. In his first start for OSU, Cody Vaz went 20-32 for 332 yards, three touchdown passes and no interceptions.

11 Southern California (5-1, 3-1) 24 @ Washington (3-3, 1-2) 14 – Keith Price outplayed Matt Barkley it felt like but the Huskies committed four turnovers to one for the Trojans. Silar Redd helped carry Southern Cal to the road victory going for 155 yards on 26 carries while reading the endzone once.

California (3-4, 2-2) 31 @ Washington State (2-5, 0-4) 17 – Jeff Tuel threw for 320 yards with two scores but it was Zach Maynard and his Golden Bears that got the win in Pullman. C.J. Anderson needed 15 carries to get 112 yards and scored twice. Maynard passed for a TD and ran for one as Cal cruised to a victory.
