Ducks Roundtable: Remaining schedule enough for BCS championship?
By Brian Spaen
Oregon stays in fourth place in the BCS but gets jumped again, this time by Notre Dame. With USC and Oregon State both losing, will that have enough effect for Oregon not to control their destiny down the stretch?

Mike: Ducks fans need to hope for Stanford, Oregon State, and Southern Cal to win as much as possible. In addition, Oregon fans should root for UCLA to make the conference title game with 9 or 10 wins because beating a three-loss USC team in the CCG won’t give you the bounce that beating a Bruins team might. An x-factor is hoping Arkansas State wins the Sun Belt since that would help the non-conference schedule.
Ricky: No, it will not hurt Oregon down the stretch. The Ducks have a bigger chance of hurting the Irish’s chances. This is because ND played USC later this season. If the Trojans lose to the Ducks, then the ND-USC game will mean less than the Oregon-USC game. Plus, the Ducks still have to play Stanford and Oregon State.
Raymond: Notre Dame is definitely a threat now to the Ducks. The Irish should win their next three games against Pitt, Boston College and Wake Forest. An undefeated season will come down to their game against USC. The Ducks still have to play USC, Stanford and Oregon State. The Ducks could win out but if Notre Dame doesn’t lose the Ducks could be in trouble.
Joe: No, Oregon will make it to the National Championship if they win out. If they don’t, then I’ve given up on the “powers that be.” In other words, I would go on a profanity-laced rant and do something regretful. What I hate about Kansas State is that they get all this recognition, even though they are a bunch of cowards at their core. I want to see KSU lose more than OSU at this point.
Brian: There’s enough remaining on the schedule that the Ducks should finish in second place. It all depends on the human voters. 2/3rds of the vote rests with them, and if nothing sways their vote from keeping Oregon in second place, the computers will follow suit. Notre Dame only has USC left. If Oregon plays the Trojans twice and beats them both times, that’s more than anything the Irish can do. Stanford and Oregon State are still ranked, and will also boost them over Kansas State’s schedule as well.
