The #5 Oregon Ducks defeated #13 BYU Cougars tonight in volleyball action by a score of 3-1. The Ducks will now move on to the Regional Final where they will meet #4 Nebraska. Nebraska beat #13 Washington 3-0.

The Ducks won the first two matches against BYU before dropping the third set. The first three games were close as Oregon won 25-23 and 25-21 before BYU took the third game by a score of 25-22. The final game was the most lopsided with Oregon winning 25-12.
Sophomore Liz Brenner led the way with 27.5 points and 26 kills. Senior Alaina Bergsma chipped in with 18.5 points and 17 kills. Junior Lauren Plum had all 68 assists for the Ducks and she became the second Duck ever to get over the 4,000 assist mark.
Junior Ariana Williams led the team with a .435 hitting mark with Brenner finishing behind her with a .417 mark. Williams and senior Katherine Fischer were the other Ducks in double figures in points with 16 and 13 respectively.
Jennifer Hamson led the Cougars in points with 20 while Nicole Warner finished with 11. Alexa Gray was the other Cougar how posted double digits in points with 10. Kathryn LeCheminant had the best hitting mark on the team at .385. Heather Hannemann led the team in assists with 42. BYU was the co-champion of the West Coast Conference.
Oregon has advanced to the finals by beating Northern Colorado, Dayton and BYU. Nebraska’s path has included the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, Northern Iowa and Washington. Oregon and Nebraska will meet tomorrow at 3:30 PM PT.
