Oregon has done it’s due diligence toward the state and has interviewed several minority candidates for it’s head coaching position since Chip Kelly departed for the Philadelphia Eagles. According to reports from George Schroeder from USA Today and Bruce Feldman from CBS the Ducks will name Offensive Coordinator Mark Helfrich Oregon’s next head football coach, possibly as early as today.

The Register Guard reported that Receivers Coach Scott Frost would move up to Offensive Coordinator, this keeping much of the Ducks assistant coaches in house moving forward. Last week Defensive Coordinator Nick Aliotti was offered the job at USC for the same job he does for the Ducks, he declined and will remain with Oregon.

The Helfrich rise to Head Coach continues a succession plan that Oregon has had in place for nearly thirty five years (Brooks to Bellotti, Bellotti to Kelly, Kelly to Helfrich) for hiring for the position in house. By keeping with tradition, one incoming recruit, Thomas Tyner, said it was like nothing has changed and with National Recruiting day just around the corner the Ducks may be able to save some of the possible recruits from jumping ship by making this hire quickly.

At the time of writing this, there were no Press Conferences scheduled by the University.
