The Oregon Ducks Baseball team begins the 2013 season in just over a week in sunny Honolulu in a three game set with Hawaii – at least I’m pretty sure it will be sunny. So far the Ducks have been ranked in numerous polls anywhere from 16th to 5th.

The first preseason ranking  from the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, the oldest college baseball poll which began back in 1958 has Oregon is slated at 6th,  just ahead of them is UCLA at 5th. Oregon State is 10th and Arizona State is 16th to round out the Pac 12.

The Pac 12 season begins on March 15th with Oregon travelling to Los Angeles to face USC .

According to GoDucks.com, Oregon won a school-record 46 games in 2012 before ending its season in the Super Regional in Eugene. UO returns seven position player starters this season behind a pitching staff that features four returning starters and an All-American reliever.  Jimmie Sherfy earned first-team All- America pre-season recognition by Louisville Slugger, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game.

The Ducks Home Opener at PK Park is February 22nd as Oregon starts a four game set vs Loyola Marymount. Coach George Horton and company will travel to Cal State Fullerton, ranked 23rd in the poll for a three game set to start the month of March.
