If your into social media, you already know that certain head coaches in college, now the NFL did not embrace social media. That is however changing at the University of Oregon as Head Coach Mark Helfrich late Friday opened a Twitter Account.

As of 5:30 on Friday he had close to 40 followers, including my accounts. He started out by following Nike(smart man). Whether Helfrich or someone from the Football department will actually work the account are not known, but once we see a few messages we should know for sure who is controlling @CoachHelfrich on Twitter.

Former Quarterback Nate Costa was one of the first to welcome him to the Twitterverse, and his follower count is growing as fast as his offense scores touchdowns on the field.

Other accounts from the U of O to follow on Twitter include @Quackcave – the social media hub for Oregon Athletics, other sites of interest include:  @OregonTF(Track and Field), @OregonWBB(Women’s Basketball), @OregonMBB(Men’s Basketball) and @OregonBaseball and of course the #(hashtag) #GoDucks is a must when posting something Oregon Ducks related.
