Athlon Sports: Pac 12 Heisman Contenders – Ducks Have Two in the Top 5
Now that the sanctions are behind us and we can all move forward I thought it would be a good time to get back to football and talk a little preseason Heisman.

Athlon Sports has released their list of Pac 12 Candidates (complete with updated Vegas odds, because everything is better with Vegas odds) and to no surprise Oregon Quarterback Marcus Mariota is at the top of the list at 16/1. Heisman has not been too kinds to the Pac 12 giving up the statue just a few times in the last thirty years. (You can count the total number on one hand.) Another Duck making the list is do it all player De’Anthony Thomas.
Thomas come in at #3 with a 14/1 shot at the trophy – right behind him is USC Wideout Marquise Lee -also a 14/1 shot. Other notable Pac 12 players on the list include Ka’Deem Carey, Running Back from Arizona at 40/1, UCLA Quarterback Brett Hundley at 25/1, and USC Running Back Silas Redd.
When it comes to the Heisman I think it’s about what these players do for their respective teams throughout the season to give them the best chance to win. The only team on the list without a ton of questions on Offense is Oregon – probably why they have two players in the Top 5. Mariota is good, but I believe the year will belong to DAT.
