Walter Camp Player of the Year Watch List Includes Two Oregon Ducks

The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award is given to the best overall player in college football. This year two Oregon Ducks have been named to the Walter Camp Preseason Watch List.

Sophomore Quarterback Marcus Mariota and Running Back/All Around Talent De’Anthony Thomas are among three schools in the Pac 12 that have multiple players on the list.

Last season was the first for Mariota who was the 7th best passer in the nation. He set school records for completion percentage (68.5) and Touchdowns(38) and was respnsible for 3,429 total yards of Offense for Oregon.

Thomas, in his third year with the Ducks last season was impressive as well. He led Oregon in receptions, punt returns, and kickoff returns. If you want to see insane check out this return vs Colorado.

According to GoDucks.com, there are Nine athletes from Oregon on 13 Preseason Watch Lists This Year:

"Marcus Mariota (Davey O’Brien Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, Maxwell Award), De’Anthony Thomas (Doak Walker Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, Maxwell Award, Paul Hornung Award), Josh Huff (Biletnikoff Award), Boseko Lokombo (Butkus Award), Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Award, Jim Thorpe Award), Terrance Mitchell (Bronko Nagurski Award, Jim Thorpe Award), Tyler Johnstone (Outland Trophy, Lombardi Award), Hroniss Grasu (Outland Trophy, Rimington Trophy, Lombardi Award) and Colt Lyerla (Mackey Award)."
