Last season Bronco Mendenhall and the BYU Cougars went 8-5 while winning their fourth bowl game in a row. They have another strong schedule which they continue to put together as an Independent team.

The Cougars have a challenging home schedule that consists of games against Texas, Utah, Georgia Tech, Boise State for name opponents. On the flipside they’ve got BCS road games at Virginia, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Mendenhall’s team does return 12 starters (eight on offense/four on defense) from last season’s squad.
Sophomore Taysom Hill will get the first chance at leading BYU at quarterback, he’ll be joined in the backfield by fellow soph Jamaal Williams who rushed for 802 yards with 12 touchdowns. Senior Cody Hoffman will be the main target at the receiving corps as he caught 100 passes for 1,248 yards with 11 TD’s.
Defense will be a question with only four returning starters but with a Bronco coached team you’d think they’ll be alright. 19 letter winners are back on the defensive side which should also help the team out as well.
When will you see BYU on the schedule? Saturday, September 21 when they host the Utes in Provo they’ve still not decided on a start time or which network will televise the in-state contest.
