With their 772 yard performance over little Nicholls State the Oregon Ducks were able to show the Nation not only a 500 yards on the ground, which included three players having over 100 yard each in Marcus Mariota, De’Anthony Thomas, and Byron Marshall – Mariota and Thomas also had two touchdowns a piece courtesy of their footwork. The impression must have stuck with voters in the Associated Press poll.
Oregon jumped over Ohio State and is now behind Alabama as the #2 team in the Country. Rob Moseley from the Oregon Athletic Department says the last time Oregon was #2(or this high in the poll) was last year on September 23rd.
There was one part of the first AP Poll of 2013 that did not surprise me. Stanford was leapfrogged by Clemson(who beat Georgia 38-35). Which shows that when you don’t play a game you tend to be forgotten regardless of your standing before the season starts. The Cardinal will take on San Jose State – the name may not be familiar but the Spartans have won 14 of their last 16 games going back to last year. For a team that didn’t have a game in Week 1 Stanford better not be rusty and overlook this team.
Other Pac 12 Teams that moved in the Poll included UCLA(moving from 21 to 18), USC, even though they won handily at Hawaii dropped in the poll from 24 to 25 taking the spot vacated by Oregon State who lost to Eastern Washington dropped out.
The Washington Huskies who beat Boise State made the biggest move in this week’s poll from the Non Ranked to #20.
